What's new in Magi?

The new update to MAGI is available. It addresses a pretty major balance issue found by the forum member Alsee. It also fixes a bug that caused the game to crash on some systems.
As always, you can get more info and/or leave feedback
on our forums.

I'm working on a new update for MAGI. It's focused on fixing few leftover bugs and dealing with the AI abuse found by Alsee - one of the forum members.
BUGS/TECHNICAL:
- Changing saved game encryption system. The current solution caused crashes for some people. Old saves won't be compatibile.
- Removing the option to change color depth from the main menu. It was pretty useless and it caused some problems.
- Fixing some quirks of switching to windowed mode and vice versa.
- Adding widescreen support (black bars on the sides of the game area).
GAMEPLAY BALANCE:
- Creatures will now have fixed delays between attacks, regardless of the owner's COM. High COM had too much effect on creatures. It also makes creatures more useful for balanced and blaster characters.
- AI won't go all trigger-happy if you have a Golem and no Shield.
- AI won't waste time using low-channel Magic Missiles on the Golem.
The release of the update is planned for the next week, but I'm still accepting suggestions for further changes through our forum.

Okay, I admit. Long time no updates. But there you go - the first full screen images from the game:
You can view them in full size on the forums. Of course, we're open for any feedback you may have at this point. It's still a bit rough rough around the edges, and it contains some placeholders, but it should give a good impression of what we're aiming at.

You may have noticed that our website was down for quite a while. Well, let's just say we've been reminded that internet can be a quite unpleasant place, and that there are people there who like to break other's stuff for shits and giggles :(.
We're back now, and we also took the opportunity to upgrade our forum to the latest version. It looks a bit different now, but we'll be working on it further to make it blend nicely with the style of MAGI and ArcMagi.
Sorry for the trouble.

Yeah, lots of news :).
MAGI 1.3.1 is now available! It fixes issues and bugs that gathered since the last release and brings some balance changes that I thought were necessary.
However, the new build is not the biggest news. I have two cool announcements for you:
Owners of MAGI will get a 50% discount for ArcMagi once it arrives!
This is my token of gratitude towards you all. If you wouldn't buy MAGI, there would be no ArcMagi. All the money I raised through the sales of the game were used in the development of MAGI updates and now the sequel. Your support was great, guys, and I would like to make it all worthwile for you.
MAGI price is now $15.95!
Many factors are involved. The recession is at rampage and I don't feel like charging full price for my game, when many people have troubles with their day-to-day expenses. Also, the sequel is coming. It's expensive to make, and frankly, I need every single sale I can get.

We created a section for ArcMagi on our forums. It's the place for your pre-release discussion, questions and suggestions regarding our upcoming game, and for us to ask you for your feedback and post diaries and other interesting bits of information about the game's development. We already have two cool features there:
Rob started his diary on how the music for ArcMagi is being composed and recorded. There are various music bits there, and I know he's going to post some photos from the live recording session soon, so stay tuned.
Lurk - our kickass artist - wrote a nice post on his drawing techniques with images showing various stages of game's art progress. Be sure to check it out - it's quite impressive.
We also updated the Authors section and started working on a new, nicer look for the forum. Expect more changes and cool news in the near future.

Ho ho ho!
We would like to wish you all Merry Christmas and tons, tons of fun during the holidays. And if a part of that fun comes from playing MAGI, that's only for the better ;).
Marius - our programmer - and Lurk - our artist - felt the Christmas spirit and prepared a surprize gift for us. Check out the forums if you want to know what they were secretly cooking in there. It's pretty awesome :).

We fixed everything and forums are back up again. Sorry for the inconvinience.

There are some technical problems with the forum, and for some reason it decided today is a good day to commit suicide. We're working on fixing it and hopefully we'll be able to bring it back again soon.
Sorry for the trouble.
